Intempco Van-Stone thermowells are machined from solid barstock. Standard sizes are made to fit 1" (DN25) and 1.5" (DN40) flanges of various class. Larger sizes are less common, but available. Contact Intempco for details.

These thermowells are made to be inserted between 2 mating flanges. The well installs againts the flange on the process and a slip joint flange slides over the well hub and bolts to the mating process flange to secure the assembly.

The sealing face can be smooth or can be specified with a surface finish of 125-250 u-in Ra (3.2-6.3 u-m) for better sealing againts Gaskets.

Stepped, Tapered and Straight stem profiles are available. Custom dimensions can be supplied on request.

TW502 - Van-Stone Tapered Barstock Thermowell

Tapered thermowells are the strongest mechanically. The stem starts off at a large diameter (the root or shank diameter) and tapers down to the tip diameter. This design has a higher natural frequency making them more appropriate for systems with extreme dynamic conditions such as process lines with media flowing at high velocity.

Straight stem thermowells are simular to stepped stem but the large diameter extends to the Tip. Time responce is slower with this style. The heavy wall on the entire length of the stem gives them longer service life in conditions where erosion and/or corrosion may attack the stem. They are also well suited for the uniform application of protective coatings or used with protective tantalum sleeves.
TW503 - Van-Stone Straight Barstock Thermowell

Straight stem thermowells are simular to stepped stem but the large diameter extends to the Tip. Time responce is slower with this style. The heavy wall on the entire length of the stem gives them longer service life in conditions where erosion and/or corrosion may attack the stem. They are also well suited for the uniform application of protective coatings or used with protective tantalum sleeves.
